the seventh edition of Émoi des mots revealed

Created in 2018, and immediately supported by names – and not the least important – from literature and the media, Émoi des mots set out its framework: to be “transmitters of culture”, initiating actions in a field of intervention artistic, cultural, educational and social.

From year to year, this festival of words has multiplied and has definitively left the confidentiality of its beginnings. Based in Orthe and Arrigans, it has spread to a few neighboring towns (around forty in total, “and others are knocking at the door” confide the members of the collective).

The festival attracts an audience (more than 2,000 people in 2024) well beyond this “cultural district” designed by Jean-François Blanc (president), Jean-Claude Barens (artistic director) and those (around fifteen members) who form the Atelier du mot, an association whose mission is to promote artistic projects linked to words and literature in different forms (books, interactive forms, readings, conferences, writing workshops).

More than shows

This festival is not only made up of moments of shows and meetings (there will be 25 between the 1is February and April 12), but also other events. There will be Des Mots au fond du terroir, or when reading (in 30 minutes) comes to encounter local products (30 minutes) such as honey, kiwis and salmon.

The workshop in the village involving residents in the creation of texts (in Bélus and Sorde-l'Abbaye), and writing workshops with the football school, the Pouillon nursing home and the Port school. de-Lanne reinforce this commitment to territorial cultural roots, which goes even further this year, with a show in sign language and a first cooperation with the Alzheimer village of .

The Taste of Words and Local Flavors evenings are being renewed in partnership with local producers. Preview of the program on the Facebook pages of Atelier du mot and Jean-Claude Barens as well as on their sites: www.latelierdumot.org and www.jean-claude-barens.fr.
