In September 2023, Patrice Douret launched a cry of alarm that shook the whole of France: almost 40 years after their creation by Coluche, the Restos du Cœur are in difficulty, strangled by inflation and the influx of beneficiaries.
Having become a pillar of national solidarity, a true barometer of the country's economic health, the favorite association of the French launches its 40th campaign on Tuesday, November 19 with a priority: children, already stated for several years and at the heart of Radio Restos’ mobilization a few weeks ago. Objective: to support single mothers, on the front line in the fight against poverty, to put an end to this terrifying succession of “Restaurant generations” and ensure that today's babies are not tomorrow's beneficiaries.
Supported by committed volunteers and Enfoirés from the start: Michel Platini, Nathalie Baye, Jean-Louis Aubert, Patrick Bruel, with the exceptional participation of Jean-Jacques Goldman, Romain Colucci, Soprano and Thierry Marx, this punchy film gives a voice to the most precarious, to this France which is suffering but holding on, at a time when 9 million people still live below the poverty line.
He tells the epic story of the Restos du Cœur, this “little idea like that” which today distributes more than 170 million meals each year, thanks to 70,000 volunteers. 40 years of misery “in the land of food” as Coluche said, while one in six French people today declare that they do not have enough to eat.
