Coralie Dias, a young film producer, created her company in Aubusson. She works mainly with the Mediterranean basin. Its ambition: to show that it is possible to carry out international production in rural areas.
Coralie Dias returned to live in Aubusson in 2020, just before creating her business with a nod to the city's arms. Thus “Inter spinas films” was born. Coralie, now in her thirties, was born at the Croix-Blanche maternity ward. She studied at the college and high school in Aubusson, then she joined the faculty of Limoges (history studies) before turning to cinema, then “going up” to Paris where she obtained a degree in history. of cinema and a master's degree in economics and sociology of cinema at La Sorbonne. She continued with a professional master's degree in international co-production in Strasbourg. After an end-of-studies internship in Paris, she worked in a documentary production company before creating her own company.
A Franco-Lebanese film
Coralie Dias produced her first short film in 2021, a fifteen-minute Franco-Lebanese film, directed by Dania Bdeir, entitled “Warsha”
. This work – whose gestation was long due to the events which hit Lebanon (notably the explosion at the port of Beirut) and the covid – has enjoyed a successful career, being awarded several times and broadcast in 300 festivals. It allowed the Aubussonnaise to meet Arab and Lebanese directors in particular.
Coralie Dias went to Lebanon, a country of which she has a good knowledge. Also, on Sunday, she presented “Dancing on a Volcano” at the Le Colbert cinema, a short film by Cyril Aris, a film whose producer she knows and appreciates. This film highlights the team's resilience and their struggle to continue making cinema in the middle of a devastated city in the aftermath of the Beirut port explosion. “We, when shooting “Warsha”, experienced the same difficulties.”
Anchored in the Middle East and the Mediterranean basin
Producing films takes time and money. Coralie Dias works in her office on Grande-rue d'Aubusson, on seven films, including two feature films.
If four of the five short films are made with Lebanon, Egypt and Iran, the fifth is made with Rémy Tamalet, director from Aubusson with whom she shot a short film in June at the Aubusson nursing home.
“By creating my production company in Aubusson, I wanted to defend the idea that it is possible to do international production in a rural environment.”
Coralie Dias is also working on two feature films, one is a French-Spanish genre film, which deals with the climate crisis. The other is set in Lebanon in the 1960s, a country seen from the perspective of a 12-year-old child.
