Seine-et-: Designated as a pilot city, the town of Montévrain is committed to a more inclusive school!

An inclusive school for all, a utopia that comes to life in Montévrain. What if we could normalize our differences? So that children learn to live better together, the association An inclusive school for all (-sous-) has imagined fun boxes. On Wednesday October 16, 2024, the first eight Adapta'Box were distributed to children Montevrain. Designated as pilot city, the municipality quickly signed an agreement with the association and the Academy of Créteil. A strong commitment to suffering youth… Explanations.

Montévrain is committed to inclusion at all levels. When this project landed in town hall… It only took elected officials two days to organize everything. “ We responded very quickly because we wanted it to be in place for the start of the school year in September. The budgets were voted on but we found the money. My colleagues were great! They accepted right away, so we were able to order everything we needed to have it ready now.. » On Wednesday October 16, 2024, the very first boxes have arrived in town hall… to be given to families. “ This story started thanks to a parent who had her son enrolled in a school. She had Montévrain at heart, she had asked to meet me to talk to me about this project and for us to be a 'pilot city'. Today, we are a 'pilot city' and we are very proud. When we go to schools, we realize that there are a lot of atypical children… Very often, the children are deprived. They don't know how to help children… Everyone is unhappy ! » From now on, teachers have tools in hand to supervise them: the famous Adapta'Box. A Montevrainevery school counts two trained volunteer teachers to these tools (training of several hours per tool). “ The cities take care of purchasing the tools (the content of the Adapta'Box), the Academy takes care of the construction of the toolbox and packaging by ESAT (Establishment and work support service). » The first eight boxes concern children in CP, CE1 or even CE2. The municipality already plans to support the association in creating a box in nurseries or leisure centers.

Inclusive school for all, a collaborative adventure. Based in Rosny-sous-Boisthe association sees its boxes move from city to city: MontevrainChoisy-le-Roi, Gagny and even Brie-Comte-Robert. An unexpected success… How did the Adapta'Box come out of the ground? « She was born at 3am, one of the best ideas we've ever had. The association is teachers, AESH (accompanying students with disabilities), parents and medico-social… The idea is to take a look at the educational inclusion of children with disabilities. Today, it's true that we lack tools in schools. » An approximate inclusion which inevitably impacts children… Inside this box, they find around ten tools which could make their daily lives easier. “ We said to ourselves that we were going to take the flagship products and put them in a box. You can find pimpled cushions, noise-canceling headphones, ergonomic pens, reading rules, pictograms and stress balls. » Tools that attract the kind attention of other students and adults… who dream of playing with them. How was this Adapta'Box designed? « We said to ourselves that we were going to start from the difficulty encountered by the child. And finally, we realize that certain tools… There are many children who do not have disabilities who will be able to use it. When we took out the popits, we lost all the children! What is touching is to see this cohesion between the children. » Tools that bring together and normalize the way one child views the other. « We will have children later who will be able to keep their noise-canceling headphones. » A huge step…

« I will ensure inclusion for children (who are our foundation and our future). »

Inclusion is much more than a slogan. On the day of the inauguration, the room was full of emotions. By becoming a 'pilot city', the municipality is committed to the common good: the well-being of children. “ This is a national problem… In , we don't deal with real problems, that's why we find ourselves in somewhat grotesque situations. Local elected officials are confronted with the real problems of life (and the daily lives of citizens). We use our own means to adapt inclusive public policies as best as possible. We must manage in this society to erase our differences ! » A dynamic that works greatly for living together… A long-term approach that could change everything! “ Being a 'pilot city' is a source of pride. We built a new city… Perhaps we didn't have time to build our public policies. I find that the Adapta'Box is a real success, an anchor point so that we can move towards inclusion at all levels.. » The fruit of collective work… Over time, this Adapta'Box could even evolve!

« It’s something that really touched us, it’s a duty to be able to work on real subjects. » A Montevrainthe teams did not hesitate for a single second. To answer the expectations of teachers, children, their parents and caregivers… The municipality is 100% committed. “ We lack dialogue and sharing in this society, this must happen through children. Having a positive outlook on others is still a fundamental basis of life. We must continue, we must show the way… Only local elected officials can show the way with real political decisions. » Christian Robache's leitmotif? Rise despite our differences! « The children we are going to educate are the adults of tomorrow. We know that children who have a disability are the children who are harassed the most. We must make everyone aware of this issue of school bullying of atypical children. » By normalizing the outlook of younger people, the association hopes to change things. Because ultimately… Difference is frightening when it is not understood or known by others.

Inclusive school for everyone, from nursery to high school. After designing this first Adapta'Boxthe association is already thinking about what comes next. “ We assume that we will complete all cycles: nursery, primary, middle school, high school and nursery. If we put suitable tools in all levels, we tell ourselves that later, it will be accepted. » The box is suitable for cycles and children. Particularly fun, it has already won over many communities. “ We didn't expect that there would be so many cities wanting this box. We have six or seven cities waiting… We didn't expect there to be this wait but we suspected it. » Thanks to this box, children are now aware of the difference… We will have to wait a few years to observe the evolution of mentalities. In the meantime, we can already be satisfied with the children's smiles (and their sparkling eyes). In the years to come, the association intends to set up a house of inclusion and a bridging school. Great projects!

Designated as a 'pilot town', the town of Montévrain sent the first eight boxes of the Adapta'Box to families. Boxes made up of around ten fun tools that promote living together. A system designed by the association An inclusive school for all to change our outlook on difference (and the unknown).
