Former mayor Jean-Marc Brouch has passed away

A lifelong Beylongu, Jean-Marc Brouch joined Telecoms at a very young age, where he quickly adopted the defense of the employee, even when he was promoted to executive within this structure which became . A very committed trade unionist, he was remembered as someone who was harsh in discussions, but had good sense. A child of the town, he also became an elected official who did not hesitate to add this public mission to his daily life.

In recent years, he has found himself in the spotlight. After the resignation (for health reasons), recorded on October 14, 2018, of mayor Dominique Nougaro, Jean-Marc Brouch called a public meeting to explain to the people of Beylongu how the municipality was going to operate while waiting for a new chief magistrate. And for these elections scheduled for December 9 and 17, 2018, a single round was enough to decide between the two lists. Living together in Beylongue, where he held the head, won out. The Municipal Council immediately elected him.

“A difficult decision”

Dramatic twist in 2023. While he is a young retiree, Jean-Marc Brouch in turn resigns. “I'm taking advantage of an opportunity to do like my predecessor before letting myself get overwhelmed by stress. I prefer to stop everything in order, after several resignations from the Council, to completely provoke new elections due to communication that is not going well and an atmosphere that has become deleterious. I'm leaving disappointed. Leaving the ship remains a difficult decision to make. I undoubtedly have my share of responsibility. I threw myself into this new role with passion. Perhaps I was too democratic. That said, Beylongue is a rural commune with a modest budget. I was a mayor by default, unexpectedly and then by opportunity. “. The prefect had accepted his resignation.

He then moved to Rion-des-Landes and became the treasurer of the Rion-Morcenx Club (RMCR), his other passion.

He died at the beginning of November. A civil ceremony will take place in the Beylongue multipurpose hall, Saturday November 9, at 10:30 a.m., before his burial in the town cemetery.
