FCO-3: the number of cases is increasing, vaccination is still recommended

For several weeks, the Orne Health Defense Group has counted 25 cases of type three bluetongue (BCF). has two outbreaks, Seine-Maritime 18 outbreaks and Eure eight outbreaks. In total, has 7,122 households.

Vaccine orders

“The clinical cases observed in Orne mainly concern cattle and are not severe, for the moment in any case. More serious cases are likely to develop later with the establishment of the disease in our territory”, assures Arnaud Delafosse, director of GDS61, still strongly recommending vaccination [à lire aussi en page 9 ndlr]which he recalls “free, covered by the state, until December 31, 2024. We have no visibility for the start of the year. Remember that vaccination is well tolerated by animals and that there is no problem of abortion or sterility.”

Around 110,000 doses of vaccine for cattle have been ordered and around 45,000 for sheep.

On the MHE side, there are a total of 2,630 households in France. None in Orne.

Nearly 40,000 doses of MHE vaccine have been ordered to date.
