Near , a drunk biker beats an octogenarian until he bleeds with his own cane

Attacked on Sunday morning by a thirty-year-old under the influence of alcohol and narcotics, the victim had to be transported to the metropolitan hospital. The alleged perpetrator was indicted for “attempted murder”.

An episode of staggering violence. Sunday morning, an octogenarian was walking in Gétigné (-Atlantique), walking slowly along the D762, about twenty kilometers south of Nantes. As usual, he passed near a pretty 19th century chapel.e century, leaning on his cane, when a biker appeared on the asphalt. According to several witnesses, the old man could then have expressed his annoyance at this motorized irruption. Retracing his steps, the motorcyclist dismounted, grabbed the irritated walker's cane and began to beat him until he bled, attacking his head and arms. Before leaving as if nothing had happened, in front of shocked local residents.

The motorcyclist was arrested a few minutes later and then taken into police custody. Presented to an investigating judge, the individual – aged around thirty and living in Maine-et-Loire – was indicted on Tuesday for “attempted murder”, confirmed to the Figaro Renaud Gaudeul, public prosecutor of Nantes. The prosecution requested that the suspect be placed in pre-trial detention. The investigation, still ongoing, will have to clarify the precise circumstances of the altercation between the two people.

Road accident

The arrest of the alleged perpetrator would nevertheless be the result of a surprising combination of circumstances. Victim of a road accident, shortly after attacking the old man from Gétigné, the individual was allegedly rescued by a fire crew. In a daze, he confided to them that he had attacked the octogenarian a little earlier. The firefighters then contacted the gendarmerie, report our colleagues from West . The motorcyclist was found to be driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs.

Taken care of by the emergency services, while he was still lying on the ground, his face bloodied, the octogenarian was transported to the Nantes University Hospital on Sunday morning. Hospitalized, he was able to leave the care center the next day, after being prescribed 50 days of ITT.
