Pornichet -Atlantique. Beautiful redevelopment of the seafront in Pornichet

Pornichet -Atlantique. Beautiful redevelopment of the seafront in Pornichet

– phase 4: Oceans sector (September 2024 to June 2025)

A SUCCESSFUL EXAMPLE

The town of Pornichet has redeveloped its seafront

Agenda: Evolution and process

The town of Pornichet
first worked on the development and future of its ports.
Then came the time for the seafront with important issues for its 2 kilometers. Several public meetings for Pornichétins were organized on this subject from 2019 which followed participatory workshops dating from 2017 as well as surveys resulting in 1,300 responses. The main points of the grievances were to promote and secure gentle travel (bicycle, pedestrian), to offer more green spaces while preserving parking.As one could imagine and hope, the bay being one… « uReflection was carried out jointly with the City of La Baule, in order to ensure the consistency of developments and future movements from one end of the bay to the other. » (4 kms on La Baule and 2 kms on Pornichet).This is a project which is part of the City Project, in the same way as the ports and the heart of the city. From the preliminary sketches, modifications can make it possible to refine the projects.

The study was entrusted to the regional firms Phytolab and Artelia (which notably carried out the development of the seafronts of Saint-Nazaire, Bernerie-en-Retz, and the wild coast of Pouliguen).

Beaching port Pornichet – Loire-Atlantique

The objectives were:
– to reduce (Editor's note: the width) of the lanes dedicated to cars in order to reduce speeds, with a parking offer adapted according to the sectors.
– to create a two-way cycle path on the sea side;
– to enlarge the Pedestrian Embankment and revegetate it.

“Beyond travel, issues of public lighting, rainwater treatment, street furniture (bicycle parking, benches, etc.) or even public transport (small train, commuter shuttle, etc.) were also taken into account “.

“Intersections (creation of mini roundabouts in certain places) and crossings have also been the subject of particular attention, to help open up new perspectives and to make the connections with the Station district more obvious, the heart of the city and the ports (pBased on the examples, a new development of the Parvis des Océanes, offering more space for plants, would facilitate the connection on foot to the Remblai and the stranding port). »

» (…) pleasant, secure and high-quality walking areas. Developments that would not come at the expense of parking (including for business deliveries), since the number of spaces would remain the same as today (…) “ Today, it is difficult to completely eliminate the car, whether for walkers or for shop customers, but the idea is to reduce its impact and develop alternative means: bicycle rental, or even a commuter shuttle. autonomous. »

« (…) it is above all not a question of creating a green wall which would obstruct the view of the sea. On the contrary, the plants and trees will enrich this view of the sea. The specifications on the subject remain to be drawn up. Concerning noise, it is the speed limit, the new coating, and the plants which will help absorb them better. »

CALENDAR from 2022 to June 2025
After these preliminaries, here is the work schedule.

The development work will take place in 4 phases:
– phase 1: from avenue de to avenue Monopole (January 2022 to June 2022),
– phase 2: from avenue Monopole to avenue Poincaré (September 2022 to June 2023),
– phase 3: from the Giratoire de l’Europe to avenue des Evens (September 2023 to June 2024).
– phase 4: Oceans sector (September 2024 to June 2025).

Until then, an operation will begin with the replacement of a drinking water pipe, from avenue de Lyon to avenue de Poincaré, from September 6 to December 17, 2021.

Jean-Claude PELLETEUR, the Mayor of Pornichet, recalled that the project had been built thanks to numerous contributions for more than 4 years and that a new consultation had been launched from June until August 31, 2021 on a paper register and online, accessible until August 31, to transmit the final observations on the first phase of the project…
Consultation will continue for other sectors.

In 4 years, this emblematic place on the Atlantic coast will gradually transform to offer a completely new face, more modern and more attractive, giving pride of place to soft connections and green spaces, a greener and more peaceful seafront which will open to walkers with:
– the creation of a two-way cycle path on the sea side and a large area dedicated to green spaces;
– two “Mazy gardens” will offer an expanded plant space, judiciously positioned in relation to local residents and beach establishments;
– squares will also be created in front of emblematic architectural elements such as the Villa Ker Souveraine, the Casino or the Hôtel de L’œil, in order to highlight them;
– the parking offer will be preserved for local residents, visitors and customers of the various businesses.
