This Tuesday, at the headquarters of the French Red Cross in Passamainty, an agreement was signed with the Mahoraise Federation of Associations of Elderly and Retired People (FMAPAR), for support for seniors in Mayotte. This initiative is part of the mission of the Red Cross, which reaches out to everyone, with particular attention to the most vulnerable populations.
Present in Mayotte since 1998, the French Red Cross is based on values of neutrality and humanity. Today it is one of the largest solidarity organizations in the world, working with people in precarious situations. Thanks to this new partnership, it strengthens its commitment to Mahorais seniors by joining forces with FMAPAR.
A convention to better fight against precariousness
The Red Cross center in Passamainty already hosts a clothing store which offers items sorted by volunteers and intended for the most modest. The establishment also includes essential services such as the social SAMU, a reception center and a social grocery store, offering targeted assistance to people in difficulty, selected on strictly social criteria.
With more than 300 dedicated volunteers, the Red Cross continues its actions as close as possible to local needs. Created in 1859 by Henry Dunant, the institution remains faithful to its motto: “Everywhere and for everyone”. More than a simple slogan, this phrase embodies the spirit of impartiality and respect for human dignity which guides the organization in all its actions.
