1. The Department of Moselle is actively committed to optimizing user traffic on its road network. As the winter season approaches, it is setting up its winter viability campaign, the period for mobilizing departmental teams extends from November 18, 2024 to March 10, 2025, to guarantee effective intervention. Managing more than 4,000 kilometers of departmental roads requires considerable human and material resources, especially during the winter months.
2. To face the challenges posed by winter conditions, the Department deploys a system comprising 135 circuits, 280 agents and 70 Winter Service Vehicles, such as trucks, salt spreaders and snow plows. These teams are ready to intervene at any time, depending on needs, but also as subcontractors. They are organized within the five Territorial Technical Units of Moselle and ensure daily monitoring of the roads, in collaboration with CORD57, the Operational Center for Departmental Roads, as well as with Météo France, which provides updated forecasts every four hours for the day.
3. During the previous winter 2023/2024, the Department invested more than 3 million euros in its winter maintenance operations, which made it possible to spread nearly 6,590 tonnes of salt on the road network. This investment demonstrates the Department's commitment to maintaining safety and the flow of traffic, even in difficult climatic conditions. Thanks to this careful preparation and coordination between the different stakeholders, the Moselle Department strives to guarantee passable roads for all users.
In addition, nearly fifty cameras and webcams deployed on the departmental network are accessible to the public from the website.
