Haute-Savoie: even more transport thanks to Proxim iTi and its agile system

Proxim iTi is deploying the agility of its network with a hybrid system combining fixed stops and on-demand transport.

Over the last five years, the Proxim iTi school and urban transport network, which covers 4 communities of municipalities (Faucigny Glières, Pays Rochois, Arve et Salève and 4 Rivières) has doubled its number of users. And he doesn't plan to stop there. Because since October 21, 2024, the bus network has evolved towards the “Proxim iTi Agile” system.
An innovative solution which allows you to add numerous stops in addition to those on the 7 network lines. This “agile” system combines the regular line with classic fixed stops, and on-demand transport, as Olivier Kakol, general manager of the Proxim iTi network, explains.

For the new bus lines (i.e. lines 170, 350, 370, 450, 460 and 470), frequently requested stops are served every time. But an additional reserve of time, already planned in the line timetable, also allows you to make a few detours if other additional stops are requested along the way.

In the event of high demand at the same time in different locations, load-shedding shuttles are sent according to needs, thanks to geolocation and vision, live from the traffic control center. For Stéphane Valli, the president of Proxim iTi, this system encourages public transport by providing even more flexibility to users.

The president recognizes that this system also involves an evolution and adaptation of the profession of driver.

Proxim iTi management specifies that this is a pilot phase of testing the agile system and that a progress report will be made to identify the cost of setting up these shuttles and agilification. of the network.

Train drivers to combat staff shortages

For school transport Proxim iTi works with service providers in the sector such as GAL or Autocar Pays de Savoie (APS) as well as Keolis for urban transport which is faced with the problem of recruiting drivers. This is why Proxim iTi plans to set up a training system with these service providers, to respond to the shortage of personnel who will be trained, qualified and then hired by these same companies. Work will be carried out upstream with young people and the public seeking professional retraining.

How to buy a Proxim iTi transport ticket and for what budget?

The Proxim iTi ticket, valid for 1 hour, costs 1.70 Euros per unit. The book of 10 tickets costs 14 Euros and it is also possible to subscribe to a monthly subscription. Cash payment for transport tickets is no longer possible on buses but open payment, directly with your credit card, has been possible on buses since November 4, 2024. It is also possible when the bus is approaching to send “1 hour” by SMS to 93074 or to use the Mybus application.
Users can also go to physical agencies such as the Proxim iTi agency in Bonneville as well as Proxivélo.
