Olivier Véran announced Tuesday, November 5, that he would not run again in the partial legislative election in the first constituency of Isère, vacant since the resignation of the man who beat him in July, the ex-LFI Hugo Prévost , suspected of sexual violence.

“I will not be a candidate in the partial legislative election which will be held in the 1st constituency of Isère”wrote the former Minister of Health and government spokesperson on “with a clear head, after twelve years of local and national mandates carried out with beating force”.

Saying that I don't have “never considered politics as a career”Olivier Véran explains that he wants “serve (one’s) country differently” and commit “differently”. “It is time for me to take a step back, beneficial, necessary”he continues, but “this is not goodbye”car “in politics, 'never' means 'not right away'”.

The former Macronist deputy specifies that Camille Galliard-Minier, who replaced him when he himself was minister, “wishes to run as a candidate and we will support her with all our strength”. The dates of this partial legislative are not yet known.

To replace Hugo Prevost in the National Assembly, suspected of sexist and sexual violence, two candidates have declared themselves: the lawyer and president of Crif -Dauphiné Hervé Gerbi, without political label, who wants “gather around the central block” etchez Les Républicains, the regional councilor and opposition municipal councilor in Grenoble Nathalie Béranger.

La France insoumise, for its part, has just invested the child rights activist Lyes Louffok. If Marine Tondelier, the boss of the Ecologists, has already confirmed that her party would support the LFI candidate, within the framework of the agreement on the distribution of constituencies of the New Popular Front, the local PS has proposed another candidacy, that of the socialist departmental councilor Amandine Germain, more likely to win, according to them.

The national PS has not yet decided. The candidate of the New Popular Front in Matignon, Lucie Castets, had for a time considered running in this constituency, before giving up. The Insoumis demanded that she sit within their group.
