The former Minister of Health and government spokesperson Olivier Véran announced Tuesday evening that he would not run again in the partial legislative election of Isère, vacant since the resignation of the man who had beaten him in July, the ex-LFI Hugo Prévost.
“It’s time for me to take a step back”
“I will not be a candidate in the partial legislative election which will be held in the 1st constituency of Isère” in Grenoble, wrote the former minister on and national efforts carried out with a bang.
Saying that he “never considered politics as a career”, Olivier Veran explains that he wants to “serve (his) country differently” and engage “differently”. “It is time for me to take a step back, beneficial, necessary”, he continues, but “it is not a farewell”, because “in politics, ‘never’, that means ‘not right away’”.
Camille Galliard-Minier on the way to macronie, Lyes Louffok for LFI, the PS divided
The former Macronist MP specifies that Camille Galliard-Minier, who replaced him when he himself was minister, “wishes to run as a candidate and we will support her with all our strength”.
The dates of this partial legislative are not yet known.
To replace Hugo Prevost in the National Assembly, suspected of sexual and gender-based violence, La France insoumise has just invested the child rights activist Lyes Louffok.
If Marine Tondelier, the boss of the Ecologists, has already confirmed that her party would support the LFI candidate, within the framework of the agreement on the distribution of constituencies of the New Popular Front, the local PS has proposed another candidacy, that of the socialist departmental councilor Amandine Germain, more likely to win, according to them.
Lucie Castets had thrown in the towel
The national PS has not yet decided.
The candidate of the New Popular Front in Matignon, Lucie Castets, had for a time considered running in this constituency, before giving up. The Insoumis demanded that she sit within their group.
