Don't panic. In order to check the connection of the siren of the commune of Châteaugay (Puy-de-Dôme), between Clermont-Ferrand and Riom, to the new Population Alert and Information System (SAIP), sound tests are carried out.

They will take place this Wednesday, November 6, 2024, between 3:30 p.m. and 5 p.m.

Three different signals

On Wednesday, November 6, the Châteaugay alert siren will emit successively:

• the national alert signal comprising three cycles, each lasting one minute 41 seconds and separated by an interval of 5 seconds, of a modulated sound (which “rises” and “falls”).
• the national test signal which includes a single cycle lasting one minute 41 seconds, the same as that broadcast on the first Wednesday of each month at noon.
• the end of the alert materialized by a signal in the form of a continuous sound for 30 seconds.

The national test signal will be heard regularly on the 1st Wednesday of each month, at noon, from Wednesday December 4, 2024 for the usual monthly tests.

Connection work

These tests follow connection work.

During these tests, the population does not have to adopt any particular behavior, specifies the Auvergne prefecture.
