The association invites you to a beaver discovery evening, Tuesday November 12 at 6 p.m., at the Le Rex cinema in Pamiers.
The reintroduction of the beaver in Ariège is a project defended by the “À l’eau Castor” association. The film “The Return of the Savage” will allow us to better understand what this water and forest engineer does. Christian Heynen's film shows that the presence of the beaver in England has contributed to diversifying environments and especially to revitalizing wetlands. Beavers improve biodiversity: the water is purified, there is a reduction in major floods and a reduction in droughts.
These tireless workers also prove to be a boon economically. Following the film, the debate will be moderated by Daniel Strub who will answer all questions. This passionate naturalist has been defending the reintroduction of the beaver in Ariège for years: “The beaver is a keystone species because it has an abundant effect on biodiversity, it multiplies life, including that of fish. He is a real player in the protection of our rivers. »
Marion is an employee of the association and project manager for the reintroduction of the beaver. To complete its scientific work, the association plans to hire a civic service which will be responsible for animation and communication. Motivations for the project and a great sensitivity to nature protection are expected as well as skills in graphics, communication and scientific mediation. “An event is planned for the launch of the association in the form of a cinema evening meeting and artists interested in participating are welcome. The idea would be to propose drawings and paintings on the theme of beaver and biodiversity and to propose an exhibition,” explains Marion.
“The association is collegial with co-presidents but it hopes to increase its membership with members and volunteers. The association's godmother is Suzanne Husky. The artist mobilizes for the “beaver people” who are at the heart of her work, she works with the philosopher Baptiste Morizot.
