A week after the tragedy which affected Spain and in particular the Valencia region, solidarity operations with the victims are increasing in the Gard. This is particularly the case in Vallabrègues. The small village of barely 1,400 inhabitants on the banks of the Rhône is organizing, from this Tuesday until this Wednesday afternoon, a “collection for the shipwrecked people of Valencia” as she was baptized. And a great surge of solidarity was established in just a few hours.

You can drop off your donations until this Wednesday afternoon at 5 p.m. at the La Calade room. Clothes of all sizes, blankets, hygiene products, shovels, brooms, boots, but also food, but preferably cans. Brief, all donations are welcome except fresh produce. They will be transported this Wednesday evening to Spain by truck from Beaucaire.
It was the Municipal Social Action Center (CCAS) of Vallabrègues which set up this collection. In this small village on the banks of the Rhône, the word “solidarity” takes on its full meaning underlines CCAS director Eliane Lacroix.

Solidarity also in Foissac
On his side Isabel, a resident of Foissac, between Uzès and Alès also launched a solidarity operation on France Bleu Gard Lozère last week: “The collection of donations is progressing very well. The town hall provided me with a room to store the donations collected. We are looking for essential food donations of water, milk, oil, pasta and even rice. For babies also diapers, small jars of wipes, infant milk. We also need bandages, disinfectant, masks, gloves, bandages or even animal kibble.
We also need shovels, buckets, boots, brooms, squeegees, anything that can be used to clean everything since the state is unable to provide them. And finally I am looking for trucks I have several drivers but still no truck I continue the searche” .
