Former tropical storm Patty heads towards Spain and Portugal

The black streak continues for Spain: while the country has not yet recovered from the deadly floods that occurred on October 29, new precipitation submerged several cities this Sunday.

More than 100 millimeters of rain fell yesterday in Castelldefels, near Barcelona. The region of Valencethe most affected by last week's disaster, is also on alert this Monday for heavy stormy rains.

A very rainy depression approaching

But another phenomenon weather reportweather report risks causing new bad weather: the old tropical storm Patty. Upon reaching the Portuguese coast, Patty will lose its tropical characteristics and will become nothing more than a depression. However, it is loaded with humidity and will dump large quantities of water: Patty will touch Portugal this Monday evening with strengthening winds, before the arrival of rain Tuesday morning, and it will then head north -west of Spain this Tuesday afternoon.

This post-tropical depression should not generate as much rain as the Dana depression which devastated Spain, but it is possible that it will generate accumulations of 50 to 100 millimeters in less than a day, which remains consistent. The entire west coast of Portugal will be affected by rain, in addition to rough seas with a risk of submersionsubmersion. The rains of old tropical stormtropical storm will not affect, or very little, the Spanish regions which experienced the dramatic floods last week. They will mainly focus on the area stretching from Vigo to La Coruña.

The storm will clear out and weaken on Tuesday evening, and the situation should then finally be calmer and drier in Spain and Portugal.
