Paris prosecutor’s office opens investigation

The Paris prosecutor’s office told BFMTV that it was opening an investigation following a call for an intifada launched by an activist during a pro-Palestinian demonstration organized in the capital on September 8. A report had been issued by the Interior Ministry.

Following the call for an intifada made in Paris during a pro-Palestine demonstration, the Paris prosecutor’s office has opened an investigation, BFMTV learned from the court on Friday, September 13. It has been entrusted to the Brigade for the Repression of Crimes Against Persons (BRDP).

Three counts were retained: public provocation to hatred or violence on the grounds of origin, nation, race or religion, public provocation to intentionally harm the life or physical integrity of a person and public provocation to commit crimes or offences against the fundamental interests of the nation.

Before the opening of this investigation, the public prosecutor’s office had received a report from the Ministry of the Interior about the comments made by activist Elias Imzalene. Le Parisien had revealed that the man was on the S file.

On September 8, at a pro-Palestinian rally, he spoke, microphone in hand, to a crowd gathered in the capital to defend Palestine.

“This genocide has accomplices. They are called Biden… They are called Macron. Macron the election thief, right? We know the thieves who live in the Elysée and Matignon. Are we ready to throw them out too? Are we ready to lead the intifada in Paris?” he declared.

This intervention was then relayed on social networks, before landing in the hands of justice.
