The news spread like wildfire on social media. The lifeless body of Denis Franoux, history and geography teacher at the Jean-de Pange high school in Sarreguemines, was found this Monday, November 4 in the afternoon in the forest of Blies-Ébersing, the town where he resided. The alert was given on Sunday. Denis Franoux, 56, had gone for a walk in the forest with his dog at the start of the afternoon. Since then, he had not given any sign of life. As of Sunday evening, firefighters and police launched a search, in vain.

An organized fight
The investigations resumed this Monday morning, under the command of Captain Romang, including a dog specialized in searching for people. Around twenty soldiers were mobilized in the morning and afternoon and a wanted notice was relayed on the gendarmerie Facebook page. The alert was also given on the German side, the border being very close. After an appeal on social networks, around fifty people gathered at 2 p.m. to take part in a hunt. The surrounding forest, on either side of the cycle path, was searched. It was shortly before 4 p.m. that the macabre discovery was made.
A popular teacher, Denis Franoux was also involved in the life of the community. He notably participated in the organization of the exhibition on the liberation of Sarreguemines, and even worked to ensure that the railway bridge was named after Robert Weil.
