A car caught fire during the night of this Sunday, November 3 to Monday, November 4 around 4:30 a.m., in the town of Rothonay.
The vehicle had been parked earlier in the day after an engine problem at a building and flames began to spread to it. It was probably a short circuit that caused the fire. Warned, the Jura firefighters were quickly able to extinguish the fire using a hose before the fire did too much damage.
“The house was spared”
“The fire had started to spread, but it remained in the part of the barn. The flames set the doors and the hay alight but it was at the old barn that it happened. The home was spared,” confirms Antoine Vuitton, the mayor of the town.
Two people live there, an elderly person and her son. During the night, the mayor housed the elderly person at his home “while the firefighters intervened and she was able to recover her property this morning”. In all, eighteen firefighters intervened.
