The Maulévrier Oriental Park (Maine-et-Loire), largest Japanese garden in Europe, celebrates autumn with Momiji, an immersion in the Japanese tradition of admiring autumn leaves. Visitors will also have the opportunity to enjoy the last big event of the season: the Arts of Japan from November 9 to 11.
Entertainment, dancing and competitions
On the program for this weekend: free workshops and demonstrations of dance, bonsai, calligraphy, manga and traditional music with several Japanese and French guests.
These three days will be marked by free activities, initiations and demonstrations, accessible to all audiences.
Japanese contemporary dance, bonsai art, calligraphy, musique traditional with koto and taiko, as well as manga and sumi-e painting workshops, will allow visitors to immerse themselves in the cultural richness of Japan. It will also be possible to participate in a kendama competition, traditional Japanese ball and ball game.
A professional village will bring together artisans and associations passionate about Japanese culture, such as the Angevin association Soleil Levant, the Bonsaï Club of Maulévrieror even the Calligrapher Hisao Takagi.
Among the distinguished guests, artists like Eijiro Ito, specializing in mangaand the Japanese drum association Friendship Saint-Cyr Japan will come to share their know-how and introduce visitors.
The Oriental Park enters its period called Momiji
The Oriental Park has entered its so-called period “Momiji” (maple) since October 26, inviting visitors to celebrate the colors of fall. This natural spectacle highlights the Japanese tradition of “Momijigari,” or “red leaf hunting,” which involves admiring the beauty of changing foliage, a phenomenon known as “Kōyō” in Japan.
