An unusual speed check took place in the Ardennes on Halloween night, reports France 3 Grand Est. On October 31, a motorist dressed as Batman was flashed at 203 km/h at the wheel of his Porsche, or 70 km/h above the authorized speed, on the motorway near Châtelet-sur-Sormonne.
This crazy race ended with the interception of the vehicle by the Departmental Road Safety Squadron (EDSR), which then shared the incident on social networks. The driver, a Dutch citizen, was not alone for this nocturnal escapade: his passenger, dressed in a Catwoman costume, also surprised the police during the check.
A heavy fine and loss of points
Despite the funny situation, the offense remains serious. In addition to his Porsche being impounded, the man's license was immediately revoked. Although cooperative and ready to pose for a photo with one of the Ardennes gendarmes, he risks a heavy fine of 1,500 euros and the loss of six points on his license.
The incident allowed law enforcement to reiterate on social networks the importance of respecting speed limits in the department, not to annoy drivers, but to prevent accidents, often serious, linked to speeding. .
