- Michel Desplanches, Rector of the sanctuary / Mini bio
Born in 1959 in Aix-en-Provence, he is the eldest of 3 children. His brother and sister reside with their respective families in the United States. He therefore speaks English fluently! He was drawn to God at a very young age, particularly through the mass.
In his family, the transverse flute has been played since Louis-Philippe. A tradition that he continues with great joy.
Summary of his priestly journey
He began his studies for the priesthood at the regional seminary of Avignon, taking a two-year break by taking courses at the Art Institute of Aix-en-Provence. He finally joined the Aix seminary which reopened its doors after 25 years of closure. This is where he completed his studies. He was ordained priest on June 26, 1988 at Aix-en-Provence Cathedral. Passionate about Provençal language and literature, he preached all the traditional festivals of Provence during his 34 years of ministry. In 2014, he was appointed Vicar General of the Diocese of Aix. After 8 years in this role, he joined the Laus sanctuary as Rector.

A life path full of surprises, under the gentle and continuous protection of Marie, through sites so different, but which are all dedicated to her, from Lyon where she was born, very close to Fourvière, Ars, where she regularly went with her grandfather, Châteauneuf de Galaure where she passed her baccalaureate, rue du Bac in Paris, Ganagobie, la Sainte Baume, la Bonne Mère, in Marseille where she lived for a few years, Notre Dame de Sereys near Puy en Velay …and, a few years ago, her arrival in the Hautes Alpes where she discovered this magnificent sanctuary.
She has two daughters and 4 grandchildren. She enjoys skiing, hiking, sailing and cycling. She fell in love with this beautiful region of the Hautes Alpes.
Summary of his professional career
His professional life has allowed him to experience multiple responsibilities, legal advice, human resources and management, responsibility for training at EM Lyon, creation of a company with two partners, then more than 20 years in management of human resources of a large steel group, leading her to ensure the development of HR policies in France, Luxembourg, China, India, Egypt, Europe… She therefore had the chance to work in varied contexts and cultures. Then currently, taking a little further step back and after training at the Catholic Institute of Paris, an activity in consulting, supporting management teams, and mediation.

Parisian by birth, his heart is attached to the South-West! He arrived in the Hautes-Alpes by chance in 2006 to take charge of the Réallon resort. He never left again!
He has since put down roots by buying a house, getting married and raising two local daughters!
Summary of his professional career
After 20 years as a manager in the tourism sector and the operation of ski areas, he now devotes himself to two complementary activities: the main one being the management of the hotel center of the sanctuary of Notre-Dame du Laus. The satellite being the development of a franchise with Bras Droit des Dirigeants in order to help local managers of VSE/SMEs in their core business: management, organization, optimization.
= A constant throughout all his experiences: A man in the field, his method has always been listening, 360° diagnosis and the implementation of structuring actions with the teams.
