An illegal gathering of tuning enthusiasts took place in Villiers-en-Bière (Seine-et-Marne) on the night of Saturday November 2 to Sunday November 3, 2024. According to our colleagues from The Republic of Seine-et-Marne hundreds of vehicles had taken over the parking lot of the Carrefour supermarket. Some drivers are said to have engaged in urban rodeos.
This giant demonstration led to the intervention of numerous CRS (Republican Security Company), called in reinforcements by the national police to disperse the approximately 2,000 people present on site, according to the figure communicated by The Parisian . The evacuation ended around 3:30 a.m.
Two drivers in custody
According to our colleagues, the police were alerted around 11 p.m. And for good reason: employees of the Carrefour store reportedly had difficulty maneuvering their personal vehicles in the middle of this crowd. “We intervene because it is dangerous for them and for the public because some overflow onto the access roads”detailed an agent interviewed by the Ile-de-France daily.
The Republic of Seine-et-Marne specifies that two drivers were taken into custody for driving against the flow of traffic. They will have to recover their vehicle from the impound lot. The police also reportedly issued around ten citations. Similar gatherings had already been organized in the department in recent weeks, notably in Moissy-Cramayel, Réau, Villeparisis and Fontenay-Trésigny.
