In response to the anger and fears of traders and residents of Lyon, the town hall is organizing a Trade and Craft Conference this Monday.
Promised last March, the event should take place all day at City Hall, with the main stakeholders invited to register to participate in the workshops and round tables.
The environmentalist town hall sets itself the objective of “co-build local solutions with all traders and craftsmen with a store working to make Lyon's commercial fabric one of the most dynamic in France”.
To do this, six workshops are planned: “Commercial diversity and commercial town planning: how to guarantee the installation and sustainability of traders and craftsmen in our neighborhoods?”, “At your side throughout the life of the company: what support for a peaceful journey?”, “Lyon and its merchant-artisans, a winning duo: how can Lyon's identity promote its commercial attractiveness?”, “Physical presence, online presence: what measures for a complete customer experience and a Lyon business that is doing well in the face of e-commerce?”, “Ecological and social commitment as a lever for development: what actions and how to promote them?” and “Lyon + desirable: what priorities so that the changes and uses of public space are a factor of attractiveness for businesses?”
Grégory Doucet and his Commerce assistant Camille Augey promise that thanks to these exchanges, which they hope will be constructive, “concrete measures” may be implemented by the City of Lyon, provided that they fall within its powers. However, most of the developments criticized by traders such as the Presqu'île à Vivre project or the closure of rue Grenette and the diversion of bus lines are the work of the Métropole de Lyon…
The environmentalist mayor, however, promises to carry the voice of traders to the ears of Bruno Bernard, but also to the prefecture regarding the issues “strategic, regulatory, legislative”.
