The Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games “have given real impetus to social and ecological transition”believes Julien Pierre, former international rugby union player and founder of the Fair Play For Planet label, guest of franceinfo's “Club info” on Sunday November 3.
Fair Play For Planet is the first eco-responsible label intended for clubs, sites and sporting events. “For several years we have been talking more and more about transition [écologique] in sport, and we can clearly see that the games have launched a groundswell which will change sport, the image of sport and the impact of sport on the environment”declares Julien Pierre.
For the former rugby player, we have to think about the Games “eco-responsible people who try to reduce their footprint as much as possible” carbon. In this sense, the Paris 2024 Olympic Games have “halved their carbon footprint”were “the first where there is parity between male and female athletes” was respected, and the “Paralympic Games were really highlighted”welcomes Julien Pierre.
