Henri Michel, Maxime Bossis, Emiliano Sala… They are now all displayed in full display at the Beaujoire stadium. This Sunday, club president Waldemar Kita inaugurated a new project, the “legends stand”, displayed behind the Océane stand. 16 players and coaches now adorn the two faces of eight pillars.
The legends displayed were selected through a vote launched at the end of August by the FC Nantes foundation. Next to 10,000 voters in total elected the 16 lucky ones, from a list of 38 names. The portraits were taken by “Ptitecao”an artist from Nantes.
16 giant portraits
So now we find the giant posters of Jean-Claude Suaudeau, Henri Michel, Mickael Landreau, Japhet N'Doram, Maxime Bossis, José Arribas, Patrice Loko, Emiliano Sala, Vahid Halilhodzic, Reynald Denoueix, Didier Deschamps, Lois Amisse, Christian Kambeu , Jean-Paul Bertrand-Demanes, Reynald Pedros et Marcel Desailly.
Legends therefore elected by the public, and who are no longer necessarily still in this world. Eight former FC Nantes players and coaches were able to attend the ceremony and discover the works. “It's weird to see yourself like this“, testifies with a smile the great Maxime Bossis. “Coming from a small club in Vendée, I find the initiative cool. It is essential to maintain a connection and transmit this beautiful story through this type of portrait.“.
“A transmission of culture”
For Waldemar Kita, “it is a transmission of culture. We need this kind of thing to perpetuate the great history of this club, through all these legends who have marked the eras.” The president of the club assures him, other projects are germinating at the momentand should be presented over the coming months.
