“I broke my record”: in Finistère, 13 adapted sports athletes ran the

“We are here to develop adapted sport, raise awareness among clubs,” summarizes Brestoise Aline Roudaut, president of the departmental adapted sports committee of Finistère. Sunday November 3, 2024, she was at the arrival of the 40e edition of the Taulé – Morlaix race, a 10 km, which brought together nearly 4,000 runners.

Thirteen adapted sports athletes participated in the competition and were ranked. The chair of the committee immediately specifies: “Adapted sport concerns people with psychological, mental and autistic disabilities, while disabled sport concerns motor and sensory disabilities. For adapted sport, additional human resources are needed. »

After 40 minutes and 36 seconds of racing, Karim Abdoullatuf, 23, crossed the finish line. It is the first in its category. “It’s my personal best,” points out the young man, licensed at the ASPTT in , in the adapted sports section. Autistic with an intellectual disability, Karim Abdoullatuf has been running for around six years. He notes: “The course is rolling, with false rises and falls, it allows you to go quickly and I like it when it goes quickly. »

Emilio Le Tareau, a 22-year-old from Morlais, does not run “not often, except for rugby”, he said. It was his first Taulé – Morlaix and he is “went slowly at first, and I accelerated from 6e kilometer. » He completed the 10 km in 58 minutes and 18 seconds.

Even though he is part of the USVM club (Union sportif du vallon de Morlaix), the young man ran with the jersey of his Morlaix rugby club, “to highlight that rugby is an adapted sport, he explains. I also wanted to try running. » Among all the runners, the young man, who suffers from a social handicap, is considering, why not, participating in the race next year.

Among the women, Océane Belimane, 26 years old and licensed at Trégueux Langueux athletics, finished the 10 km in « 1 h 20 environ ». The young woman is dyspraxic, she sometimes has difficulty expressing herself, but also finding her way in space, to grasp objects. When she runs, she likes “the sensations provided by the strides. I train three or four times a week with a coach and other people in adapted sports,” she describes. Already in 2019, she participated and won in her category. With, on arrival, great satisfaction.
