#THUIR – The grand final of the competition for the best sommelier in France, organized by the Union de la sommellerie française (UDSF), took place on Sunday November 3 at the Regional Institute of Sommellerie Sud de France, in the Byrrh cellars. A rare event in the Pyrénées-Orientales, the event generally being held in . Bastien Debono (head sommelier at La Maison Bleue by Yoann Conte) won the title ahead of Clément Sommier (consulting sommelier Berthaudin SA Carouge) and Quentin Vauléon (sommelier at Frevo, USA). He is offered the promise of working in the biggest palaces and preparing for European and world competitions.

Stevenson celebrated

#DRAWS – Between meetings and conferences, the Sur le chemin de Robert Louis Stevenson association will bring together its members for a somewhat special occasion. From November 6 to 10 in Langogne, the European Stevenson network will come together to celebrate the crossing of the Cévennes by the Scottish writer who, in addition to the Voyage en Cévennes (published in 1879), gave birth to a 272-kilometer path whose 14 stages allow you to travel through 4 departments and discover 40 towns. “Consecrated” as a Grande Randonnée path in 1978, the route now sees nearly 15,000 hikers per year. The association was born in 1994 and has since focused on developing actions to bring this route to life.

A billion to electrify

# Enedis described the upcoming project as “second electrification of the country” during his recent presentation in Toulouse. By 2032, the EDF subsidiary will have to build the network capable of accommodating the connection of renewable energies. In all, 8 gigawatts, the equivalent of six nuclear units, to meet a 30% increase in consumption by 2035, mainly due to new uses. To accommodate this power linked to the demands of the energy producers currently in the portfolio, Enedis will have to strengthen the current network over 291 kilometers of lines and build 210 kilometers of new lines as well as 21 new electrical substations. Financing will be provided by RTE and Enedis who will provide 329 million euros in equity and renewable energy producers to the tune of 716 million euros in order to connect their future installations to the Occitanie electricity network.
