Running in your underwear in November, you have to be cheeky. A challenge that was taken up by the 125 participants of the Slip Run d'Orgères. A slightly crazy race with a particularity in the runners' standard outfit for the occasion: underpants. However, for this general public race, wearing a thong is not authorized and runners must at least wear a bra.
Apart from these few restrictions, everyone is free to set out, in the outfit of their choice: underwear and disguise as recommended by the organizers of the Jogging Loisirs Orgères (JLO) association. The race is thus one of the nine more sporting events (15 and 26 km trails, night races, 10 km walk, etc.), offered to the 1,317 runners registered as part of the 15th edition of the Trail de la Belle of Orgères.
The important thing is to participate… and have a good laugh
The second edition of the Slip Run is aimed at a public that is not necessarily sporty, but who wants to participate for fun. “It’s an idea that started from a frenzy between friends to have fun and have a laugh” explains the president of JLO, Ken Le Prado. After the 60 runners last year, who created a buzz, the second edition brought together 125 participants on the starting line.
Kévin and Quentin discovered the race on social networks and came specially from Brest for the race. The two friends have superb mullet cuts and are dressed in swim trunks that were very trendy in the 90s: “It's the first time we've come and we're really doing this for fun. Otherwise we do trails and half-marathons but never in underwear. We came to try.”
Same state of mind for Gwen, a resident of the town disguised as Harley Quinn, the Joker's friend: “I'm not sporty at all, it's just for fun. I tried to motivate my son but he didn't dare to take the step. It must be said that it’s not hot.”
Arthur and Logan come next door wearing their underwear over their Casa de Papel character costumes. “We come to have a laugh because we usually run more seriously. There we don’t worry no matter the ranking.”
Indeed, the colorful race, which takes place in a friendly atmosphere, is not played against the clock. The important thing here is to participate and have a good laugh. And for some even to have a drink along the route where participants have the opportunity to refuel, in moderation, in establishments in the city center.
Laughter was therefore essential for this race unlike any other, although with a charitable aspect. Indeed, at the end of this sporting and good-humoured weekend, the JLO association which organized the event donated the sum of €2,600 to two associations: Loisirs pluriel, (leisure center for disabled and able-bodied children) and the Curie Institute, (cancer center).
