caught with 160 liters of stolen diesel in their trunk

The gendarmes from the surveillance and intervention platoon of the Bressuire gendarmerie were intrigued by the passage of a vehicle traveling in the open countryside at 4:40 a.m. on the night of Friday 1is to Saturday November 2, 2024. The soldiers crisscrossed the border with Vendée, an area identified as the entry point for nocturnal delinquency.

A strong smell in the car

They then carried out a check and saw through the rear window eight 20 liter cans, filled with diesel, the smell of which perfumed the passenger compartment and occupants. A pipe was also visible, casting doubt on the source of the fuel.

When questioned, the two occupants of the car, originally from Eastern countries and residing in a neighboring town in Vendée, quickly admitted to having stolen this fuel from the tank of a heavy goods vehicle parked in Clazay.

Pierced tank

On the instructions of the two suspects, the soldiers noticed on the spot that the tank of the heavy goods vehicle was pierced.

Placed in police custody and interviewed on Saturday November 2 by investigators from the Cerizay brigade community, they emerged free with a summons to court for a misdemeanor criminal order in July 2025.

The 160 liters of diesel were returned to the victim. The equipment discovered (hose, gloves, pliers, etc.) was destroyed by decision of the magistrate.
