Lucky people, these Mayennais! Their department will be the only one, in the Pays-de-la-Loire region, to see the riders of the 2025 Tour de France pass through. This will be the eighth stage, the start of which is scheduled for Saturday July 12 in Brittany in Saint-Méen-le-Grand for a total route of 174 kilometers : “A pure plain stage to leave Brittany and reach Mayenne, roads mostly sheltered from the wind, the parameters are met for the teams of sprinters to take charge of controlling the race, the prospect of a massive sprint holds the ropewith however a specificity which slightly restricts the profile of the candidates to win, the line is drawn at the end ofa last kilometer on a false flat rise“ comments Christian Prudhomme, director of the “big loop” on the official event website.
Arrival in Laval
Eleven municipalities in Mayenne will be crossed, over approximately 70 kilometers: Cuillé, Gastines, Laubrières, Ballots, Craon, Prée-d'Anjou -new commune-, Marigné-Peuton, Quelaines-Saint-Gault, Nuillé-sur-Vicoin and L'Huisserie before arriving in Laval – third time that the department prefecture is on the Tour de France route – in front of the Espace Mayenne. “It is with immense pride that we once again welcome the Tour, Mayenne has always been a land of cycling and the return of this major popular event is great news for all cycling enthusiasts” enthuses Olivier Richefou, president of the Departmental Council, convinced that “this event represents a unique opportunity for Mayenne to show its dynamism, its love of sport, and to promote the department on a national and international scale”.
