This Saturday late afternoon, a minor was slightly injured in the face following an unofficial football match between players from Athis-Mons (Essonne) and Viry-Chatillon. Organized in a stadium in the Noyer-Renard district, in Athis-Mons, this inter-district meeting would have degenerated after the victory of the Viry-Chatillon team.
Shortly before 7 p.m., the police received a call indicating that around thirty individuals attacked a minor player from the victorious team, punching him several times and spraying him with tear gas. During their intervention, the police found the victim taking refuge in an Auchan supermarket located a little further away. On his face, a few bruises testify to the blows received.
The police then proceeded to arrest two individuals aged 16 and 17 present near the supermarket and designated by the victim as participants in the brawl. No weapon was found on these two minors unknown to the police. This Sunday, their custody should make it possible to know their degree of involvement in the fight.
Organized on the sidelines of official football league meetings, this match went under the radar of the police. After a 2023-2024 season marked by numerous fights and attacks against a backdrop of rivalries between districts, the Essonne prefecture has just put in place measures to ensure the safety of players and spectators. Among them: the surveillance of “risky” matches by police personnel or the last minute modification of the time and place of the meeting.
