“I don’t want this match to happen.” Guest on
“I ask that we put an end to double standards”
To request the cancellation of the meeting, the elected official of the 3rd constituency of Val-de-Marne relies on “article 4 of the statutes of FIFA (international Football federation) which explains that it is necessary respect universal human rights“. But also on the exclusion of Russia and Belarus since the outbreak of the war in Ukraine in 2022.
“I don’t see why today we have sanctions against Russia and Belarus. But when it comes to Israeli government policy, absolutely nothing is done about it. I ask that we put an end to double standards,” argued Louis Boyard on Sud Radio.
On his X account, the MP also relayed a petition created by the AFPS (France Palestine Solidarity association) demanding the cancellation of the match between the two nations. To date, she has collected just over 6,500 signatures.
Towards a reduced gauge?
However, this request has no chance of succeeding. On RMC this Friday, the Minister of the Interior, Bruno Retailleau, confirmed that “the meeting would be held in Saint-Denis”.
But the new tenant of Place Beauvau raised for the first time the possibility of a reduced capacity within the Saint-Denis area (Seine-Saint-Denis). “This is a point that we are currently studying,” confided the minister who confirms having dismissed the hypothesis of a relocation to the Parc des Princes (Paris, 16th).
For this part between the two nations, the Paris police prefect, Laurent Nuñez, promised “extremely reinforced” security. “There will be significant searches to ensure people enter safely,” he warned.
In the event of a problem, at the request of the French Football Federation, the police will also be able to intervene inside. An “unusual” way of doing thingsrecognized the prefect.
