WhenAline Jourdain learned that the French 5 kilometer road championships would take place this year in Saint-Omer, she marked a cross on the calendar.
The one who now wears the colors of Dieppe has made an appointment with this event to shine all the moreshe was born in Saint-Omer and grew up there.
It was therefore in front of her family that she was crowned champion of France.
In full preparation for the cross season or even a half-marathon scheduled for the end of November in Boulogne-Billancourt, Aline Jourdain has not carried out any specific preparation for these French 5 kilometer road championships.
“We simply did quality work during the last three weeks before the championship, relieves his trainer Philippe Cousin. We worked well on speed in particular.”
This was seen in Saint-Omer.
In front of her family members, Aline Jourdain put a healthy amount of pressure on her shoulders and she succeeded in her bet.
Rather than entering the Elite event where she could not have won a medal, she chose the 5 kilometer Master 1 and more with some 160 rivals around her on the starting line.
Aline Jourdain got off to a good start as she immediately found the right pace, in the group that took control of the race.
She finds herself in front, alongside the other favorites of the day, Béatrice Osty (Quimper), Julie Giacomelli (Troyes), Fanny Pruvost (Arras) and Anne Hauret (Fort-de-France).
The first two kilometers are quiet for the Stadiste who triggers hostilities halfway through the race.
She won by 18 seconds…
Faster than her opponents and relying on a light and long stride, Aline Jourdain puts on the required intensity and widens the gap on a 2.5 km course to be covered twice, including restarts with the false flats and a small hill.
Aline Jourdain widens the gap and will not be seen again.
Better yet, she has something under her belt in the finale since she completes the last kilometer in an impressive 3'16″ which says a lot about his physical freshness.
She appears at the end of the last line and cuts the finishing ribbon with her arms raised to the sky.
Aline Jourdain achieves a very good time of 17'16″ (not far from her personal best at 16'52″) and relegates her two main opponents of the day quite far from her, respectively at 18″ for Béatrice Osty (Quimper) and at 26” for Julie Giacomelli (Troyes).
It's a deliverance for the Stadiste who obtains her sixth podium in a French championship and his second national title after that obtained on the 10,000 meters track in Master 0.
“Aline (Jourdain) continues to progress,” notes her trainer Philippe Cousin. Even though she is 40 years old, she is a recent and very young athlete.”
Another great performance achieved in Saint-Omer, that of the youngest Zoe Lemoigne.
She ends at the 20e place among cadets while setting his new personal best over 5 kilometers road with a time of 19'22”.
“Zoé (Lemoigne) trains very well and she is logically rewarded,” concludes Philippe Cousin, beaming with the results obtained.
