This town of Seine-Saint-Denis offers 600 fruit trees to its inhabitants

Quince trees, apple trees, cherry trees, pear trees and even plum trees… The city of (Seine-Saint-Denis) renews its operation fruit trees with a new distribution of plants on Saturday November 16 and Sunday 17, 2024. A way of greening a town made up of two-thirds of residential neighborhoods.

A revegetation operation

Among the 2,170 trees planted in the municipality in 2023/2024, 367 were offered to residents last March. “Private gardens constitute an under-exploited land reserve suitable for planting trees in the city,” notes Odette Mendès, deputy mayor in charge of the Environment.

“More than ever, the presence of trees in the city is essential. A pillar in the fight against the effects of climate change, it is also a refuge for biodiversity… while contributing to the creation of islands of freshness,” recalls the mayor (UDI) Aude Lagarde.

After the success of the first operation, the municipality repeated the experience during a winter campaign. To benefit from it, simply choose one of the five species proposedall adapted to the Ile-de- climate, and to reserve your tree online before November 13, 2024. The following conditions must be met:

  • Living in a pavilion with a garden in Drancy (a property tax notice will be requested)
  • Only register for one tree
  • Sign a charter of commitment and choose a tree adapted to your land
  • Be able to transport it on your own: the tree, at least three years old, will measure approximately 2 m high and its trunk is 10 to 12 cm in circumference.

A third distribution is planned for spring 2025. It will be reserved for people who have not yet benefited from the operation, or for those whose fruit tree has not survived.
