Like all seasonal viruses, Covid-19 begins to circulate more in the fall. Santé Publique France confirms this in its bulletin published last week: “An intensification of the circulation of SARS-CoV-2 seems to be beginning.”
The state body also recalls that the adoption of barrier gestures remains an effective means of protecting oneself from a respiratory infection and its complications, and limiting the risk of transmission to those around them, particularly to vulnerable people: the wearing a mask in case of symptoms and regular hand washing are then recommended.
What are the common symptoms of Covid-19?
Symptoms can vary from person to person but the most common are fever or chills; dry cough; difficulty breathing or shortness of breath; muscle or body pain; headaches; fatigue ; loss of taste or smell; sore throat ; congestion or runny nose; nausea or vomiting; etc…
The first symptoms appear after an incubation of approximately 5 days.
Some people may also be asymptomatic.
Namely
When the Covid-19 screening test is positive: avoid contact with vulnerable people, warn those around you, contact your doctor, respect barrier gestures and monitor your state of health.
Rappel
In the event of breathing difficulties such as shortness of breath at the slightest effort or when speaking, call 15 (or 114 for deaf or hard of hearing people).
What are the right actions to adopt?
To protect yourself and others, it is recommended to adopt simple preventive measures: wash your hands regularly or use a hydroalcoholic solution; cough or sneeze into your elbow or into a single-use tissue; blow your nose into a single-use tissue then throw it away; avoid touching your face; respect a distance of at least 2 meters from others; greet without shaking hands and stop hugging; wear a mask (a surgical mask or an FFP2 mask); limit your contact with others as much as possible; ventilate each room as often as possible.
General health recommendations in the fight against winter respiratory diseases and Covid-19 are detailed in this document from the Ministry of Health and Prevention.
The vaccination campaign targeting in particular people aged 65 and over and those at risk of severe form of Covid began on October 15.
