A new tragedy affects the RC Romanais Péageois rugby club, where young Thomas was registered, killed on November 18, 2023 during a village festival in Crépol. According to several corroborating sources at Europe 1, Nicolas D., another member of this club and aged 22, died this Saturday afternoon, as a result of his injuries after being hit during a shooting in front of a nightclub in Saint -Péray, in Ardèche, on the night of October 31 to November 1. His club pays tribute to him on its social networks.

Three people affected

Friday morning, around 2:30 a.m. in front of the “Le Seven” nightclub, an individual dressed in black and hooded opened fire in the parking lot of the establishment. Several volleys of bullets were fired, three people were hit, including Nicolas D., fatally shot in the head. The shooter then fled while the 800 revelers who came to celebrate Halloween were confined inside the nightclub.

Denis Iglesias, deputy national night secretary of the Alliance Police union, describes a scene of rare violence. “Witnesses report that they thought they were at the Bataclan. This shows the violence of the events, especially in a small town like Saint-Péray where we obviously do not expect this kind of situation. C “It's a city that is rather quiet,” he explains on Europe 1. The investigation is underway to determine the causes of this shooting.

“We are devastated,” confides the club co-president

A year after Thomas' death, horror once again strikes this rugby club. The tribute paid on social networks sums up the deep emotion of the club's co-president, Tristan Tardy. “We had very little hope about the fatal outcome since the brain had apparently suffered. We are devastated,” he confided to Europe 1. “It’s been a year since we lost Thomas, and almost a year later, we lose a new young man from the club. We will have to be strong again and take responsibility for the players, for his family, for all his friends, and cope as best as possible.

A psychological unit soon to be set up, says Marie-Hélène Thoraval

The mayor of Romans-sur-Isère, Marie-Hélène Thoraval, interviewed on Saturday in the show Europe 1 Evening Weekendindicates that she went to young Nicolas's rugby club on Friday evening “to talk with the players”. The elected official adds that she has done “what is necessary to ensure that a psychological unit is set up”.

The co-president of RC Romanais Péageois adds that the club is in contact with Nicolas' family, to decide on a possible tribute in the coming days.
