Météo France has placed Guadeloupe on yellow alert for heavy rain and thunderstorms, this Saturday, November 2. “Many storms raging in the near Atlantic are picked up by the trade winds which direct them towards our archipelago.specifies Météo France in its bulletin.
Several towns in the archipelago have had their feet in the water since the beginning of the afternoon. This is particularly the case for the town of Les Abymes, which is particularly sensitive to flooding. Sometimes, it was necessary to exercise great caution, as the roadway was submerged in water: motorists venturing in a single file on the two-lane dual carriageway.

The storms are confined to the near Atlantic, but some showers spill over to the east of the archipelago: Désirade, Marie-Galante, the east of Grande Terre, the Grands Fonds and the Pointoise region.
During the afternoon, the low-lying terrain suffered violent rains, before a lull for a few hours. These intense showers may spread to other regions in the evening and next night. The risk of storms should gradually decline late next night.
This Sunday, November 3, after a morning lull, rain will reactivate at the end of the morning over a large part of the territory, generating significant accumulations during a good part of midday until the beginning of the afternoon. Accumulations of around 30 to 50 mm in one hour or 50 to 80 mm in three hours are to be feared. They could locally be accompanied by strong electrical activity.
- 63 mm in two hours including 35 mm in one hour in Providence, Petit-Bourg
- 56 mm in less than an hour and 30 minutes in Raizet
- 44 mm in less than an hour in Chazeau, Abymes
- 37 mm in Gros Morne, Petit-Bourg
