A man in his twenties lost his life on the night of November 2, 2024 on the A4, in the Strasbourg-Paris direction, near the town of Varize-Vaudoncourt (Moselle). The young motorist initially collided with a tanker truck. As he got out of his vehicle, a heavy goods vehicle hit him.
According to information from France 3 Lorraine, the accident took place around 3:40 a.m., at kilometer 343.3. The tanker truck was transporting approximately 24,000 liters of hydrogen sulphites in aqueous solution. The heavy goods vehicle which hit the young man was transporting containers of mechanical parts. A third truck stopped to help.
The left lane was neutralized for several kilometers to allow rescue operations, which lasted two hours. In total, ten firefighters from the Boulay, Saint-Avold and Courcelles-Chaussy barracks were mobilized.
