A traffic accident occurred on the A34 motorway, at the entrance to Charleville-Mézières (Ardennes). It was accompanied by a hit-and-run, which is far from being a first in the department.

The press release sent to the editorial staff by the Ardennes departmental fire and rescue service (Sdis) reports an accident that occurred on Friday November 1, 2024. The call for help was made at 8:18 p.m.

It follows a collision between two cars on the A34, just before exit no. 11 towards Prix-les-Mézières (Ardennes). In the struck car, the one remaining at the scene of the accident, there was a 62-year-old man, who was driving. The passenger was 61 years old (see highway on map below).

Slightly injured, these two people were transported to the Manchester hospital center (CH) in Charleville-Mézières. In all, thirteen firefighters took part in the rescue operations, which notably required the assistance of two rescue and victim assistance vehicles (VSAV).

Among the hit-and-runs that had previously occurred, France 3 Champagne-Ardenne reported on a teenage girl run over by a school and a cyclist in Carignan (Ardennes). Without forgetting an elderly lady hit in front of the Cora de Villers-Semeuse (Ardennes).
