Another axis is currently being addressed. This is the Noisseville-Nouilly connection. An envelope of €270,000 was invested by the metropolis, which requested aid from the Grand Est Region. “On average, you need to invest €10,000 to create 100 meters of quality cycle path,” says Christophe Prévost, delegated advisor to the Metz metropolis in charge of the Cycling Plan.

“Real driving comfort”
The work, led by the Lingenheld company, started on September 23. Their aim is to develop a “secure, comfortable and direct route between the two municipalities”, with a width of 2.5 m, along metropolitan route 69. This asphalt route will be bordered by existing trees. and separated from the road by a wooden and metal barrier, which, the metropolis promises, “will provide real traffic comfort”.
As part of these developments, the entrance to Noisseville has already been secured by a narrowing of the roadway which will allow better integration for pedestrians and bicycles. The speed will be lowered at this location.
Other projects
The greenway construction site impacts automobile traffic. To limit the inconvenience, the work is carried out in portions with alternating traffic and traffic lights. However, local access will be maintained throughout the construction period. The greenway should be delivered by mid-December. Other construction projects are planned after the winter break, starting with a soft connection between Peltre and Mercy. According to Christophe Prévost, “the metropolis is working on an infrastructure project between Peltre and the Mercy hospital jointly with the mayor of Peltre”.
