A tractor falls 8 meters into the English Channel, its driver seriously injured

Ce Saturday November 2, 2024shortly before 8 a.m., a 16 year old man was traveling on board his tractor when he made a fall of 8 meters below rue du Pont-Bossard between Mortain and Le Neufbourg (Manche).

A young man airlifted in serious condition

His tractor overturned on the roof and the corn silage trailer ended up balancing on the tractor.

The young man managed to get out of his machine before help arrived. Seriously injured, he was transported by theDragon 50 helicopter at Avranches hospital.

A diesel leak

This agricultural machine accident led to a diesel leak near a watercourse, The Cance. To avoid polluting it, a land dam was posed.

Nearly 30 firefighters on scene

Given the scale of the accident, many ways were engaged to secure the site and rescue the victim. In total, 26 firefighters from the Juvigny, Saint-Hilaire, Ger and Avranches emergency centers, as well as the Samu, were mobilized.

Several emergency vehicles were on the scene: an ambulance, a road emergency vehicle, a protection and security vehicle, a nursing vehicle, a fire van, a chemical risk vehicle and a column command level.
