JA32 and FDSEA32: farmers will not mistreat their land to please the administration!

Press release from Young Farmers and the FDSEA 32:

Young Farmers and the FDSEA du Gers have been making a request for several weeks to deviate from the dates for establishing plant cover imposed by the CAP and the Nitrates Directive due to an impossibility linked to waterlogged soil. A file to this effect was submitted last week to the Gers prefecture by the two majority unions.

Following the work carried out jointly by Jeunes Agriculteurs and the FDSEA du Gers and the elements they provided, the administration returned to this request for exemption.

This return does not satisfy Young Farmers and the FDSEA of Gers.

Indeed, the two majority unions welcome the decision of the prefect of Gers to bring together the CODERST on November 8 but they maintain the pressure so that our situation of excess rainfall in September and October is recognized, which did not allow to install plant cover.

Concerning the obligations of the BCAE 6 and the BCAE 7 within the framework of the Common Agricultural Policy, it is essential, in view of the exceptionally high rainfall in recent months, that the Ministry of Agriculture recognizes the case of force majeure in the department.

Indeed, Young Farmers and FDSEA du Gers are pleading so that farmers are not penalized for the impossibility of sowing due to bad weather. It is scandalous that farmers are being subjected to administrative constraints which in this context are economic and agronomic nonsense.

It is essential that farmers can have this exemption systematically. We will not mistreat the land in bad weather conditions to meet administrative obligations!

The JA and FDSEA 32 will not give up!
