Where and what is this “Alimenterre” festival which offers four meetings in November in Aveyron?

On the occasion of the Alimenterre festival on sustainable and inclusive food, organized for the first time in Espalion, four events are offered to the population.

The objective is to offer, every Sunday afternoon in November, a highlight to learn about and understand current agricultural and food issues, with a farm visit or a workshop and the screening of a documentary film at the Rex cinema, followed by an exchange with a professional related to the theme covered.

Sunday November 3

Free seed workshop, at 5 p.m., led by Étienne Dols from Terra Delun.

Collect seeds from your garden: selection, drying, plant physiology and planting advice… By registration: [email protected]

At 6:30 p.m., film debate, in the presence of the Jardins de Flaujac and Géraldine Tinel: “The Last Seed-La last graine”. The film explores issues related to food and agriculture in Africa, through the prism of the fight for control of seeds.

Sunday November 10

Free Nature Outing, led by Gérard Alric, at 4 p.m.: a walk around Espalion to observe nature in a fun way and learn about it better to preserve it. By registration: [email protected]

At 6:30 p.m., film debate in the presence of director Cyril Dussutour: “My father this fisherman”. This documentary invites you to contemplate breathtaking landscapes between Marcillac and Aubrac, and to discover the fauna and flora.

Sunday November 17

Free farm visit, at 4 p.m.: discovery of the human-scale Fenadou farm in Cayrol, with its 70 goats, which transforms its entire production into cheeses which it sells on local markets. By registration: [email protected]

At 6:30 p.m., film debate: “Powder trail”, in the presence of Gaec La Fenadou. The documentary explores the destructive consequences of the globalization of the dairy sector in Belgium, , Senegal and Burkina Faso.

Sunday November 24

Free visit to Willy Auvrouin's “Zero carbon” farm, in Saint-Chély-d'Aubrac at 4 p.m. An example where the carbon footprint is taken into account at each stage of breeding for an essential transition. By registration: [email protected]

At 6:30 p.m., film debate: “Peasant kindness”, in the presence of director Oliver Dickinson. At a time when so many ills are attributed to livestock farming, what if the farm animal were instead a precious auxiliary in these times of essential transition?

These events are organized jointly by the Rex cinema, the Agronomes et Vétérinaires Sans Frontières association, and the Auberge Espalionne.

The Fenadou farm will welcome participants for a visit on November 17.
