It was with great emotion that the project which would shape the future of the hollow tooth on rue d'Aubagne was presented for the very first time in May. This void opened in the middle of the city between numbers 63 and 67, for six years and the tragedy which took the lives of eight people. Where the buildings stood, these Marseille “three windows” swept away in the collapses, will soon be erected a “resource place” for all. It was designed as both a tribute to the victims and a cultural, social and sporting opening to the neighborhood.
A vegetable garden, play areas, cooking workshops, meetings…
Of the 300 m² of land available, 200 m² will be occupied by a Mediterranean-inspired patio, with plants, an open-ground vegetable garden adjoining number 69, play areas and a courtyard to host meals or shows. Against number 61 rue d'Aubagne, on 100 m², a light wooden construction, with removable partitions, covered and on one floor will be built to accommodate the youngest, cooking workshops or meetings. The place will be managed by the City and in the future, an additional floor may be added.
