Women's basketball league: after Miskolc, objective in the championship for Basket Landes

Another big match awaits Basket Landes this Saturday, November 2 (8 p.m.). The Landaises face one of the big teams in the championship, , at home, for the 5th day of the Women's League. No rest, or little, since a few days ago, they were still at the other end of Europe in Hungary, facing Miskolc for the Euroleague. In the championship standings, the Montoises are 3rd, ahead of the Lyonnaises, 6th. In reality five teams stand, all currently tied on points, seven each. A confrontation which could therefore make the difference at the end of the season, and therefore promises sparks. Both teams are in great shape.

On one side there are our Landaises. We can no longer trust. Just crowned with a historic performance in the Euroleague, with this victory in Hungary full of character, which opens a beautiful path, almost a boulevard, towards qualification. In the championship too, things are going well. Only one misstep for the moment, in the Lyon region (well, well) in Charnay. Julie Barennes will therefore instill the same state of mind in her players: “We know that the Lyon team will be one of our direct competitors. It’s an away match so going to win there would really be something that would really rock us. So there you have it, some great matches to take.”

“It’s a brand new team, we can’t wait to play them”

On the other side, Lyonnaises, just as in shape. Only one defeat in the championship, the same, against a big fish, . The last time Lyon and Mont-de-Marsan crossed paths was last April for the championship play-offs. Since then, the Rhone team has changed a lot. The coach, but not only that. And Sistine Macquet analyzed this well. “We can’t wait to play them because they’re definitely a brand new team. There have been a lot of changes. Even if they don't have all their stars from last year, they still have very good players, who play well together. They have proven it since the start of the season.”confided the Landes pivot at the start of the week before heading out on the roads (aerial in particular).

But be careful, there is one in particular which has not moved, is still there, and which we will have to monitor closely. The Lyon nugget Dominique Malonga, the first French woman in history to have achieved a dunk, only a few days ago in European competition. The players will then be entitled to rest, a two-week break. Everyone will therefore be keen to finish this first part of the season on a good note.
