The mother of Santiago, an infant aged 17 days when he was kidnapped by his parents from a maternity ward in Aulnay-sous-Bois (Seine-Saint-Denis), should be handed over to the French authorities, the court said. Amsterdam.

Last Friday, the infant was found in the Netherlands after four days of tracking and hospitalized. His parents were arrested and held in pre-trial detention in the country ever since.
“Next week”
The request for accelerated procedure concerning Santiago's mother “was accepted. It should be delivered next week,” declared to theAFP a spokesperson for the Amsterdam court, where the young woman is currently detained.
Santiago, very premature, was kidnapped on Monday October 21 by his parents aged 23 and 25 in the neonatology department of a hospital in Aulnay-sous-Bois, near Paris.
Concerning the father of the child, he “opted for the long procedure and the request for surrender will be processed at a public hearing of the International Legal Assistance Chamber at a later date” explained the court spokesperson.
The date of this hearing is not yet known. Short proceedings are typically assessed within 10 days by the council chambers of the Amsterdam court, with the hearing taking place in camera.
“In the long procedure, the case is examined within 60 to 90 days by the International Judicial Assistance Chamber (IRK) of the Amsterdam Court” said the spokesperson.
The exact date of Santiago's mother's extradition to France is not yet known to the court.
Three indictments
The Bobigny prosecutor assured last week that Santiago would also be repatriated “in France, as part of his placement under educational assistance […] when medically possible”.
Born on October 4, Santiago benefited from constant care in an incubator, his mother having given birth eight weeks early. His parents, aged 23 and 25, allegedly hid him in a shopping bag before fleeing by car to Belgium, according to the first elements of the investigation.
A kidnapping alert was triggered in France then in Belgium. European arrest warrants were issued against the parents. The race against time to find Santiago ended in the Amsterdam area. Three relatives were indicted in France. They are suspected of having helped the parents kidnap the baby.
