“It is a great honor for us to welcome the man who will become the French champion of individual brass puck on lead plate during this day of November 2, in La Chapelle-des-Marais (-Atlantique)”, rejoices Cédric Guénégothe president of Palets du Marais.

His association, affiliated with the French rural sports federation, was officially born in February 2001 and has 52 members, aged 12 to 73, 60% of whom are from Marais-Chapelains. It is the Loire-Atlantique shuffleboard club which has the most members.

There are 320 licensed players who will come from all over to compete in this individual championship. The federation wanted this championship in the 44 and we applied. We are proud of our young, recognized club. There will be a majority of players from Vendée, Maine-et-Loire, Charente-Maritime and Loire-Atlantique.

Each participant is guaranteed to play four qualifying rounds in the morning. After the lunch break and consultation of the rankings, the 1/64 finals will begin at 2:30 p.m. until the start of the final scheduled for 8 p.m.

The day will continue with the awards ceremony for the winners of the main final, that of the consolation tables and the challenges, scheduled until 9:30 p.m.

The rules

This championship is played with three brass pucks on a lead plate of 45 cm side and 9 mm thick.

The pucks must be placed as close as possible to the master (or little one), as for pétanque.

This plate is placed at 2,85 m players. For this championship, 160 lead plates are required, with participating clubs bringing their own.

Very intense year

It's a very intense year for the Briéron club which organized the departmental open competition in triplets in February, then its annual doublets tournament, with 54 teams, in June.

On the championship side, he entered four doubles in D2, after a year in D1, but also four other doubles in D3 and as many in D4. Next year will be quieter, with only the annual tournament.
