Since mid-October 2024, the Marne department has launched two repair and security projects on the Marne Valley cycle route which runs along the Marne canal to the river, from Dormans to Vitry-le-François. A little facelift for this portion of the greenway inaugurated in 2017. The first took place on the section between Reuil (delegated municipality of Cœur-de-la-Vallée and Dormans).
“This repair work was necessary due to the formation of cracks in the roadway in different locations. Some of them have been sealed. Other more important ones have been the subject of purge work. details the Department. This work, costing 32,800 euros, is now complete.
The aim of the work is to secure the passage of users and preserve the bank of the Marne.
The second project was launched at the end of October and should last until November 27. “Maintenance and felling operations along the Vallée de la Marne cycle route 52 are currently being carried out between Verneuil and Dormans”indicates the Department. “This work aims to secure the passage of users and preserve the bank of the Marne and thus the sustainability of the cycle route. They consist of preventive and curative actions of felling, dismantling and coppicing of dying trees.. The cost of this second phase amounts to 39,000 euros.
